Lilith Fair
Lilith Fair has proved to be one of the greatest musical achievements of all time. At first, the media was skeptical of this "all women" affair, accusing Lilith of being too feministic. Some of the media had misconceptions of the intentions of Lilith, and it seemed that for a while, they sought joy in trying to belittle this phenomenal celebration of women. But all of that criticism soon came to an end, and Lilith knocked the socks off of the music industry, breaking all sorts of records, and making musical history.
Sarah Mclachlan, the creator of Lilith Fair, has expressed in many interviews that Lilith Fair is not about bashing or hating men, but it is a celebration of women. She has no intentions of excluding men, and invites them wholeheartedly to attend Lilith. Sarah felt that there needed to be an alternative for the male dominated Lollapalooza, and just wanted to give women artists a chance to prove that they, too, could have sell-out concerts without the help of male dominated bands included in the acts. Lilith Fair is a festival of goddesses, celebrating the womanhood of yesterday and the feminism of tomorrow, and has proved to be one of the greatest achievements in women's history.
